Red Lodge Provincial Park | Alberta

Red Lodge Provincial Park is an Alberta Parks provincial park in the Central region, 15 kilometres west of Bowden on Highway 587. Alberta Parks lists one day-use area, one campground, and three group-use areas.

The park sits along the Little Red Deer River.

Why Visit Red Lodge Provincial Park

Red Lodge is a treed, family-friendly river park with campground, group-use areas, day use, fishing, swimming, and geocaching. Alberta Parks describes it as a hidden gem close to city conveniences, with a rustic campground and easy access to the river for fishing or paddling when water levels are safe.

Activities include camping, fishing, swimming, and geocaching. The official page also notes that the Red Lodge store is a handy stop, especially for ice cream on hot summer days.

Current advisories shape 2026 planning. Alberta Parks says the sani-dump station, showers, and flush toilets will be closed for the 2026 camping season because of wastewater system issues. Vault toilets are available, potable water is expected weather permitting, and an alternative sani-dump is available in Bowden.

Construction north of Magpie Group Use Area may cause daytime noise, Magpie is unavailable for 2026 reservations, and visitors must stay out of active construction zones.

Book with those limits in mind.
