Minnow Lake Provincial Recreation Area is an Alberta Parks recreation area in the Central region, 20 kilometres east of Edson on Highway 16 and 20 kilometres south on Wolf Lake Road. Alberta Parks lists one campground and one group-use area.
The official page lists no developed day-use area count.
Minnow Lake is a small campground and fishing destination beside a small lake east of Edson. Alberta Parks says the recreation area has nine individual first come, first served campsites in a grassy field with surrounding trees, plus a separate group-use area with a shelter for larger groups that want to camp.
The lake is described as suitable for fishing perch and walleye from small watercraft. Activities include camping, canoeing and kayaking, and fishing. Canoeing and kayaking include aquatic invasive species reminders, so paddlers should plan around clean-drain-dry practices.
Boat-launch conditions are the main current planning issue. Alberta Parks says cement pads on the launch are damaged due to ground heaving, and the launch should not be used by trailers or larger boats. Hand launching small boats, kayaks, and canoes should be done cautiously. In winter, ground heaving and damaged pads still affect vehicle access to the lake.
Plan around first come camping, group camping, shelter use, small-watercraft fishing for perch and walleye, cautious canoe and kayak launching, campground map review, and quiet lake time.
