Jarvis Bay Provincial Park | Alberta

Jarvis Bay Provincial Park is an Alberta Parks provincial park in the Central region, four kilometres north of Sylvan Lake on Highway 20. KR Campground Maintenance is shown as facility operator.

Alberta Parks lists one campground, four group-use areas, and no developed day-use area count.

The campground map is especially useful for group-use planning.

Why Visit Jarvis Bay Provincial Park

Jarvis Bay is a serviced campground and group-use base overlooking Sylvan Lake. Alberta Parks says the park has a fully serviced campground and an ample trail system. There is no direct access to Sylvan Lake from the campground, but the main beach on Lakeshore Drive in the town of Sylvan Lake is about a 10-minute drive away.

Activities include camping, cross-country skiing, front-country hiking, snowshoeing, geocaching, interpretive programs, birding, and fat biking. The nearest golf course is one kilometre from the park.

Jarvis Bay is useful for visitors who want to stay close to one of central Alberta's popular lakes while using town amenities and nearby beach access, rather than expecting a campground beach on site.

Check the current construction advisory before using trails. Alberta Parks lists the Lakeshore Trail lookout closest to site 129 as closed because of poor structural condition, and visitors must stay beyond barriers and follow signage.

Things To Do

Plan around serviced camping, group use, front-country hiking, birding, geocaching, fat biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, interpretive programs, and Sylvan Lake town beach trips.

Planning Notes

Confirm campground and group-use status, no-direct-lake-access plans, lookout closures, trail conditions, maps, advisories, weather, and Alberta Parks updates.
