Indian Graves Provincial Recreation Area is an Alberta Parks site in Southern Kananaskis, 29 kilometres south of Longview on Highway 22 and 13 kilometres west on Highway 532. Alberta Parks notes that Highway 532 is well maintained but not paved, and that a Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required for parking.
Alberta Parks lists one campground and no day-use area. Indian Graves Campground is for registered guests only.
Indian Graves is a quiet, rustic campground for families, hikers, fishers, and equestrian campers. Alberta Parks says the campground is bordered by Johnson Creek and Willow Creek, with many unmarked trails starting right from the campground.
The Lower Loop includes eight creekside sites and six sites in a grassy and treed area with a playground and cookhouse in the middle. Six equestrian sites include 16-foot by 16-foot horse corrals. The Upper Loop has 17 forested sites and an OHV access trail connecting to trails south of Highway 532, though OHV use within the campground is not allowed.
Activities include camping, fishing, backcountry hiking, equestrian use, and wildlife viewing. Bear Pond is 10 minutes from the campground, and horseback riding uses extensive informal trails in the area.
Indian Graves is best for registered campers who want space, trees, rustic facilities, and direct access to informal Southern Kananaskis routes.
Plan around rustic camping, creekside sites, equestrian campsites, informal hiking, Bear Pond fishing, wildlife viewing, OHV access trail research, and campground map review.
