Goldeye Lake Provincial Recreation Area is an Alberta Parks site in the Central region. The official page places it eight kilometres west of Nordegg on Highway 11 and three kilometres north on a gravel access road.
Alberta Parks describes Goldeye Lake as a popular, family-friendly destination just outside Nordegg. Westward Bound Campgrounds is listed as facility operator.
Goldeye Lake is a developed foothills lake destination with private campsites, a dedicated day-use area, and a strong trail connection to nearby Fish Lake Provincial Recreation Area. Alberta Parks lists one day-use area and one campground.
The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, and visitors can canoe or use electric motors only. Activities include camping, canoeing and kayaking, cross-country skiing, electric-motor boating, fishing, front-country hiking, ice fishing, mountain biking and cycling, power boating, swimming, geocaching, trail running, and electric bicycling.
Trail planning is a major reason to choose Goldeye. Alberta Parks notes a scenic loop trail around the lake and the multi-use FireSmart Ecology Trail, a 13-kilometre route with hiking and mountain biking terrain that connects directly to Fish Lake Provincial Recreation Area.
Winter access needs care. Ice fishing access depends on snow levels because there is no winter snow plowing, and cross-country skiing uses ungroomed trails. Alberta Parks also prohibits OHV and snowmobile off-loading inside the recreation area and travel to trails or winter lake access.
Plan around camping, lake swimming, stocked rainbow trout fishing, paddling, electric-motor boating, the lake loop, FireSmart Ecology Trail, mountain biking, trail running, and ice fishing.
Confirm campground status, snow and road access, electric motor rules, OHV and snowmobile prohibitions, fishing regulations, maps, advisories, weather, and Alberta Parks updates.
