Fidler-Greywillow Wildland Provincial Park | Alberta

Fidler-Greywillow Wildland Provincial Park is an Alberta Parks wildland park in the North region. The official page says it includes part of the north shore of Lake Athabasca and a number of islands.

Alberta Parks places the park about 45 kilometres northeast of Fort Chipewyan and 315 kilometres north of Fort McMurray on Lake Athabasca.

Why Visit Fidler-Greywillow Wildland Provincial Park

Fidler-Greywillow is a remote Lake Athabasca destination for visitors with the equipment and experience to handle wilderness access. Alberta Parks says summer access is only by floatplane or boat, while winter access is by snowmobile. Visitors can fly from Fort McMurray or fly to Fort Chipewyan and hire a boat. There is no summer road access to Fort Chipewyan from Fort McMurray, though winter road access exists in colder months.

The activity list includes backcountry camping, beach use, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, hunting, power boating, off-site snowmobiling, on-site snowmobiling, and wildlife viewing. Alberta Parks also states that there is no designated campsite and asks visitors to be respectful with random camping.

That combination means Fidler-Greywillow should be planned as a remote expedition, not a casual campground choice. Boat distance, weather, fire restrictions, communications, and emergency backup plans are all central to a safe trip.

The park is also an important long-tail page because many visitors will simply be trying to understand whether road access, camping infrastructure, or ordinary day use exists.

Things To Do

Plan around remote backcountry camping, Lake Athabasca beaches, paddling, fishing, hunting, power boating, winter snowmobile travel, wildlife viewing, and Fort Chipewyan logistics.

Planning Notes

Confirm fire restrictions, access method, random camping rules, fishing and hunting regulations, weather, lake conditions, maps, advisories, communications, and Alberta Parks updates.
