Sioux Narrows History

Sioux Narrows has a rich and diverse history which includes old Gold Mining sites, Hudson Bay Trading Posts and German POW camps. Ancient Native pictographs can be seen along the shorelines at numerous locations in the area. The World’s largest single span wooden bridge once stood at the ‘Narrows’ and its location was host to an ancient battle between the Sioux and Ojibway Nations hundreds of years ago. Excavations at the ‘Narrows’ have unearthed ancient artifacts and arrowheads.
